IoT Inspire Zurich 2022: Willers with Tech Talk on Digital Twins – From Hype to Reality

IOT INSPIRE ZURICH 2022, THE INTERNATIONAL EVENT DEDICATED TO INDUSTRY TRANSFORMATION THROUGH DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGIES, WILL BE AN IN-PERSON EVENT IN ZURICH WITH EXPECTED NUMBER OF 250 VISITORS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN JUNE 09, 2022. WILLERS, THE BRONCE SPONSOR OF THE EVENT WILL HAVE THE TECH TALK ON DIGITAL TWINS POWERED BY IOT.

Zurich, Switzerland (April 21, 2022): IoT Business Hub expects a record-breaking number of sponsors/partners and visitors for the event IoT Inspire Zurich 2022 despite the fact that the show will be organised for the first time in Zurich, Switzerland – a global center for banking and finance. The event will focus on the internet of sustainable things. IoT Inspire 2021 was already a success last year in Chur, Grisons. This year, IoT Inspire will focus together with its Bronce Sponsor of the event and member of the IoT Business Hub, Willers, on digital twins. A tech talk given by Adrian Staudenmaier, Division Manager at Willers will insight the key challenges and opportunities using IoT in today’s digital buildings powered by digital twins and IoT.

The digital twin concept first arose at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for simulations. A full-scale mockups of early space capsules have been used on the ground to simulate and diagnose problems in orbit.

After Gartner named digital twins as one of its top 10 strategic technology trends for 2017 and claiming that within three to five years, “billions of devices will be represented by digital twins, the term gained popularity. Essentially, a digital twin is a computer program that takes real-world data through sensors about a physical object or system as inputs and produces as outputs predictions or simulations of how that physical object or system will be affected by those inputs.

Digital twins offer a real-time look at what is happening with physical assets, which can radically alleviate maintenance and operation burdens. In particular, digitally operated buildings can profit from digital twins. The building twin allows a connected and digital representation of a physical building. The model combines static and dynamic data from multiple sources, e.g., IoT sensors, and enable effective decisions to be made. It provides real-time understanding of how a building is performing in terms of power efficiency and enables immediate adjustments to enhance the efficiency. The result is a cost-effective and sustainable smart building, leading to more productive employees and optimised processes.

About IoT Inspire Zurich

IoT Inspire Zurich structures its program around four trending themes: Internet-of-ThingsArtificial IntelligenceAugmented Realiy, and Sustainability. The conference will focus on scalable use cases and provides clear examples of how disruptive technologies are changing businesses and transforming industries to become more efficient and sustainable. Also, academia partners will participate and exhibit at the “Research Park” during IoT Inspire Zurich. The Research Park invites research partners to exhibit their novel technologies at the event. Next to the participants from the industry, the association expects also visitors to be undergraduate and doctoral students.

About IoT Business Hub

The Association “IoT Business Hub” has a strong commitment to bring together partners from research, business and society based on disrupting innovation in trending technologies such as IoT and AI. Components from various even competing providers shall collaborate within the hub to create scale and lower the complexity of the underlying technologies that have the potential to allow a considerable effort in sustainability in our daily life. Bridging the gap between Switzerland’s well-established ecosystem in the application fields and emerging technologies and the rest of the world promise to reap a large return on investment for companies within the technology ecosystem. IoT Business Hub is the organizer of the IoT Inspire Zurich that connects its members and partners and facilitates collaboration.
